What We Do

Angela Meshack, DrPH, grew up in Independence Heights and is now using her skills gained during advance studies at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Public Health to give back to the community.

She is a behavioral scientist at The University of Texas as well as executive director of ACP Hope Center, Inc., a community-based non-profit organization founded to provide academic enrichment and health empowering information, skills and interventions to people in need.

Drawing attention to the great locally-owned businesses, both old and new, that Independence Heights has to offer is a principal part of our mission. By targeting local press with newsworthy stories, maintaining a neighborhood shopping guide both on the web and in print, and planning local events, we aim to attract shoppers, new businesses, and other investment to Independence Heights in order to spur economic activity and strengthen our locally-owned businesses.
